choreographing design

As counterparts, architecture and dance have been underutilized in their joint applications, whether juxtaposed or complementary.  The relationship between the permanence of built space and the ephemeral qualities of performance could, together, produce architecture more programmatically flexible, as well as physically engaging and personal.  Using existing sites developed for dance and performance derived from architecture as models, my thesis addresses the compulsion and ability to generate form through dance, for dance and its multiple applications and expressions.  

 

The scale and texture of the construct are vehicles by which to explore the design development of a performance space.
