I was born and raised in San Antonio.
My mother, Beva, is from Albuquerque, NM and is a grassroots organizer for gender justice at the Southwest Organizing Project. She makes the best rice and beans. No argument.
My dad, Eduardo, is an arts administrator and lives in D.C. He cares about local public art. Like a lot.
My sister, Micaela, is a Chicana/o Studies professor at UC Santa Barbara. She is an incredible dancer. She is crazy sharp.
I was very close to my grandparents. They helped raise me and I often talk about them in my work. Elisa + Barbara + Magdaleno + Gilbert.
I met Angelica Reyna through Big Brothers/Big Sisters in San Antonio. She is a junior at Hilbert College in NY. I love her like a sister.
I love dancing salsa and flamenco. I am not particularly strong at either.
